Having done little by way of sightseeing in Łódź, we decide to try out four escape rooms in one day. We have made a quick sprint along the road to play our third, the Convicted escape room at Tkalnia Zagadek in Łódź which is just steps from our apartment.

Locked behind bars, you only have 60 minutes to escape before the guards return! Can you outsmart the system and regain your freedom?
What did we think of the Convicted escape room in Łódź?
Another game that begins by being led through a door with your eyes firmly closed – and there’s a very good reason for this. However, we can’t say anything more or we would spoil the game.
The idea of a jail break always sounds fun, and the way this game works certainly provides plenty of enjoyment. Only once did we lose our way, costing us a few minutes.
This is a game that relies heavily on observation and communication. It sounds obvious, but the better you work together, the faster the first half of the game moves. This is very, very important because the second half of the game is even harder. And the final puzzle is incredibly difficult.
Like the two Tkalnia Zagadek games we played earlier, this is a large game, played across multiple rooms. The challenges are much more physical and there are some really fun elements that make the time fly by.
Annoyingly, we run out of time. Our games master advises that as much as they would like to allow us to finish the final puzzle that we are working on, there’s another group coming and they need to reset the room. She gives us the solution allowing us to “escape”.

The final puzzle is really, really hard. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time. This was my second favourite game we played in Łódź.
Criticisms? Quirks?
Like the other Tkalnia Zagadek games, there is no clock or visual cue to tell you how much time you have remaining. This makes it quite hard to gauge your progress because the game is so immersive, you quickly lose all sense of time.
Convicted escape room review – conclusion
Our games master is very complimentary about our performance even if we didn’t escape properly. She says that the room is probably the hardest they have, with a mere 2% success rate. Most teams don’t even get to the final puzzle, let alone solve it.
Even so, the failure is annoying. So close and yet so far. But if truth be told, we’re not sure we could have solved the final puzzle even with 15 minutes left to play. This may be the hardest final challenge we’ve faced since Moriarty’s Final Trap in Prague.

Although there is no crawling or climbing in this game, players with mobility issues may encounter some difficulties, particularly in the first half of the game.
Worried about language? The games masters speak reasonable English and every “word” and audio puzzle includes a translation for those who don’t read Polish.
