Having done little by way of sightseeing in Łódź, we decide to try out four escape rooms in one day – especially as prices are much more reasonable here in Poland. First up is the Vampire Hunter escape room run by Tkalnia Zagadek in Łódź, also known as “Łowca Wampirów”.
Vampire Hunter: storyline
The infamous vampire Alexander has been terrorizing the Marienkreuzberg area for centuries. Now, after exhaustive investigation and preparation, you have a chance to end this nightmare. Enter his mansion and defeat the monster before it catches you.
What did we think of the Vampire Hunter escape room in Łódź?
As often the case, this game starts with eyes closed, being led into the room by the games master. Seconds later, we find ourselves standing in a dungeon-esque room, facing a small coffin. There’s a couple of warm-up puzzles and we make good progress, getting into the second stage of the game quite quickly. And that’s where it starts to fall apart…
The puzzles in stage two are not particularly difficult, but we’re not making the right connections, losing quite some time making silly mistakes. Then the door opens into a massive room where the puzzles do get more difficult.
The Vampire Hunter escape room offers mental, physical and even musical puzzles to keep everyone amused. And with the complexity of some of the challenges, you can understand why Tkalnia Zagadek recommend playing with teams of up to five.
The level of detail and theming is very good, and every space is well decorated. In the few instances where something must be read, English and Polish versions are provided.
We find that time flies – so much so that we have no idea how long we actually take to escape. That’s the sign of a very good game.

I liked it and thought it was quite cool. The hour-and-a-half went very quickly. This was my favourite of all the Tkalnia Zagadek games we played.
Criticisms? Quirks?
One particular puzzle had us tied in knots. Even with the correct solution (checked with the games master), the expected result did not happen. That cost us a bit of time in the middle of the game.
It’s also important to know that there are no countdown clocks or screens, so it is impossible to check your remaining game time without asking your games master using the walkie-talkie provided. We were so engrossed in the game, we forgot to ask the question.
Other than that, everything went well.
Vampire Hunter escape room review – conclusion
Despite the 90 minute runtime, this is arguably one of the easier rooms available at Tkalnia Zagadek. That or the puzzles just “clicked” with us.
As mentioned previously, we were so engrossed in the game we completely lost track of time. And that’s the sign of a good game. Well worth a stop if you’re ever in Łódź.
