Our last visit to Greenland (when the initial story for Misstep began to take shape) was back in July 2024 – and it did not quite go to plan. Due to excessive ice along the southern coast, our scheduled port stops at Qaqortoq and Nanortalik were cancelled. On a more positive note, the Captain was able to schedule a visit to Nuuk, Greenland’s capital instead (also well worth a visit).
But given the sheer novelty of Nanortalik, we really wanted to go back there. So when Princess Cruises dropped Greenland from all of their itineraries for 2026 and 2027, we were devastated.
So with the imminent release of Greenland-set Misstep, it seems serendipitous that Princess has added this incredible country to their 2028 itinerary. Currently there is just one sailing scheduled for August 2028 aboard the Caribbean Princess. Obviously that’s not Island Princess, but they are sister ships, so they should be similar.
We are seriously considering putting a deposit down and would have no hesitation recommending the Fire & Ice cruise to anyone – even those who have not yet read Misstep.

What about other cruise lines?
It is true – other cruise lines still have Greenland on their schedules, including Celebrity, Holland America and Virgin Voyages. But… Virgin pride themselves on their child-free cruises – to make room for all the children who sail on board her ships.
So we’re sticking with Princess and we’re thrilled to see Greenland make a comeback – even if it’s still two full years until the next sailing…
